Relaxing History in Split, Croatia

After basking in the beautiful lakes we caught a bus south to the coast in hopes of finding a beach before we traveled inland again. The ride was beautiful transitioning from right forests through bare mountains and finally along the dramatic coastline. As we arrived at Guest House Heard and Soul we were pleasantly surprised that it was very close to the old city, beaches, and the train station.

After settling into our guest house we decided to wander through the old walled city. It was quite a maze and we got ourselves lost several time. But while exploring we found several tasty restaurants that we later enjoyed: Zalogajnica Dioklecijan and Paulina. The food was delicious! We also found a couple bars like Leopold’s Delicatessen Bar and To Je To for cold beer.

During the hot days we relaxed on the nearby beaches. We were very close to Bacvice beach which was a half moon cove surrounded by rock outcroppings and exciting restaurants. There was a steady stream of kids jumping off the rocks and into the crystal clear water. We lazed and watched all the activity with our large beers in hand!d and watched all the activity with our large beers in hand! Another day we walked down the coast to Firule beach. This didn’t have as much space for relaxing but it was another spectacular cove.

All too soon it was time to continue on our journey. We were leaving the Mediterranean coast headed towards the Alps. Back on the train line, next stop: Zagreb.
