For my birthday, Sara took us on our first non-tropical dive. She decided on diving the Poor Knights Islands using the only company that charters out there, Dive Tutukaka. The Poor Knights Islands are off the east coast north of Auckland. It has been named one of the top ten dive sites in the world and one of the best non-tropical dive sites.

What a difference from Diving in Thailand! After getting us fitted with all our gear, including a thick wetsuit for the cold water, the crew gave a very in depth safety briefing. There were only 10 divers on the boat and we split into 2 dive groups for the first dive. The crew set up all of our gear and gave us a nice overview of the dive sites so we knew just what to expect. It was the most relaxing experience we’ve ever had on a hired dive. Both dives sites were beautiful with the best visibility we’ve ever seen. Enjoy!
