We had a few more days before having to be in Munich for Oktoberfest, so we hopped on a train south toward Hungary. The first train took us to Vienna where we had a few hour layover before the train to Budapest. The Vienna station was packed with refugees making their way to a safer home.
In Budapest we found Zen Hostel which was right near everything that we wanted to explore. We had a great time wandering around the city We took the Chain bridge across to Buda to check out the Sandor Palace as well asMatthias Church. They were both on hills and provided great views of the city!
Back in Pest, we wandered the shores of the Danube stumbling upon the Shoes on the Danube. One evening we walked up to Margaret Island for a beautiful sunset spot. We sat under the bridge drinking beer and watching the sun light up the city.
Budapest also had some amazing food and beer! Sara found many places for us and I would recommend all of them:
- Hopfanatic
- Csak a jo sor!
- Lehuto
- Frici papa kifozdeje
- VakVarju
- Keksz
- Pista ba’
- Bors Gasztrobar
